Vintage Hand-Carved Mutton-Fat Yellow Nephrite Jade Flower Pendant with Accent Beads

This striking floral stunner was a hidden gem amongst many captivating pieces. At first, I had no idea the extent of wonder and prestige this flower medallion possessed. Upon researching, I found out that it's more than likely natural Nephrite Jade (Pale Mutton-Fat/Honey-Yellow variety). Without a complete lab test there is about a 5% chance this COULD be yellow Quartzite, but the probability is highly unlikely. 

There were a number of tests I had to do, to ensure certainty! Those which include:

Acoustic Test: The pendant features a highly interlocking natural crystalline weave; it rings with a clear, high-pitched metallic chime when lightly tapped.

Hardness/Scratch Test: Tested with an ordinary steel edge. The stone is incredibly durable (Mohs 6-6.5) and completely scratch-resistant. 

Visual Texture: Under a direct LED light source, the flower petals show beautiful natural depth, displaying a cloudy, mottled, fibrous interior texture characteristic of untreated stone (No air bubbles, completely free of glass composites). There are LOTS of inclusions in each petal - the tell tale Jade factor! 

Luster: Displays a highly characteristic, smooth waxy-to-greasy surface sheen under normal light.

Total Weight: 21.9 grams (including the hand-knotted textile cord and accent beads). 

In spirituality, much like all jades - yellow Nephrite is a traditional stone of wealth and prosperity. It's said to attract success, luck, and new opportunities.
