Mini Elegua Head Figurine (2 in)
Mini Elegua Head Figurine (2 in)
Eleguá is a trickster orisha, or deity, revered in Afro-Caribbean religions like Santería, who serves as the opener of paths and the messenger of the gods. He is known as the guardian of the crossroads, both literal and spiritual, and is invoked first in ceremonies to ensure they proceed smoothly. Eleguá embodies the duality of youth and wisdom, mischief and balance, and is often depicted holding keys to symbolize his control over destiny and life's opportunities.
This mini figurine stands just shy of 2in, and has a hole at the bottom. The hole at the bottom of an Eleguá statue is for charging or consecrating it with special items. The contents turn the statue from a simple figurine into a sacred vessel for the orisha, Eleguá, in Santería, Lukumí, and Yoruba-based traditions.
